Brella Enterprise

Nordic Business Forum wanted to take their networking experience to the next level. Brella delivered.

Nordic Business Forum gathers together business leaders and the world’s most inspiring experts and thinkers to share ideas and build connections. The company is best known for its annual business conference in Helsinki, Finland. The annual main event gathers together over 5,700 attendees from over 30 countries, 25 percent of the attendees being CEOs.

The first Nordic Business Forum was organized in 2010 and the main event has grown to be one of the most significant business seminars in the world. The speakers include several distinguished names: Sir Richard Branson, Will Smith, Arianna Huffington, Al Gore and Ben Bernanke just to name a few.

With over 5,000 bright minds gathering under one roof, Nordic Business Forum faced the problem of efficient networking: how could they help their attendees find the most relevant business connections during the event?

The solution

Right from the start Nordic Business Forum wanted to create an event where 1-to-1 business meetings played a big part in the agenda.

NBF thought of it as a way to stand out from the crowd: quality networking really makes a difference. When you get the right people under one roof and these people find the right business connections from the crowd, you are definitely on the right track.

Nordic Business Forum also wanted to develop the networking experience further: they realised that their networking lounge and the whole experience was something they could improve.

For example, Nordic Business Forum 2017 placed 10 Smartblocks at the actual networking area. This provided more personal and private spaces for the 1-to-1 meetings. We invited all the attendees to the platform three weeks before. That gave the attendees plenty of time to actually organize their meetings.

“We believe that inspiring and equipping business leaders who want to make the world a better place is the single most effective way in which we can make an effect on the whole society at large.”

The results

The 2015 Nordic Business Forum resulted in 1,245 1-to-1 business meetings and 1,606 Brella users.

During the years the numbers have increased steadily and the networking experience continues to improve.

Nordic Business Forum 2016

  • Booked meetings: 1,588
  • Users signed up to Brella: 2,321

Nordic Business Forum 2017

  • Booked meetings: 2,650
  • Users signed up to Brella: 3,007

One reason for this incredible growth was the release of the Brella mobile application in early 2016 which provided an even more efficient matchmaking experience.
